Have you seen J. Crew’s new luxury shoe collection premiering in their Spring ’13 ETTA Collection? Designed in New York and handmade in a small workshop in Pisa, Italy, the collection features beautiful fabrics, bold colors and unique designs rivaling other high-end shoe designers.
There’s no denying the shoes are like works of art but the “Madmen” circa 1960’s design is throwing me off. Yes, the chunky heel trend is making a comeback this season, but I’m still a fan of my wedges and skinny stilettos. On the other hand, this means I can pull out the Charles David sandals that have been hiding in the back of my closet for the past ten years.
What I am loving about the collection are the pops of color in lime green, neon coral, neon yellow; the luxurious fabrics and of course crystals and sequins.
Etta Sequin Pump | $350
As much as I love a slimmer look, the chunky heel is much more substantial providing more stability that equates to less pain to your feet. Described as “the heel for the girl who only wears flats”, the Etta sequin pump is designed with an interior platform wearing more like a shorter heel taking you from day to night for all day comfort.
Etta Pump in Lime Green | $238
The Etta Pump available in lime green and neon coral is the same as its sequined counterpart but with a lower price. Designed with the same interior platform for all-day, all-night comfort.
Janey Crystal and Stud Flats | $398
As we know, designer ballet flats are NOT all created equally and aren’t always the more comfortable option in lieu of heels. J. Crew does not promote these as day to night flats, so for the price you may be going for sparkle and shine.
J. Crew’s Italian shoe collection ranges from $178 – $398 for ballet flats and pumps.
What’s your favorite from the new collection? Are you ready to bring back the chunky heel?
