One of the nice things about living in Chicago, is that we’re able to experience the different seasons. (I could easily insert a witty comment here, but I’ll just bite my tongue instead.) Unfortunately though it’s around this time every year when my skin cries out for some extra moisture.
So when I start switching my spring/summer wardrobe for my warmer fall/winter clothes, I also switch up my beauty routine. I use a super moisturizing conditioner for my hair, a cream – rather than lotion – to moisturize my face, and I also find myself reaching for body butter or oils for the rest of my skin.
I don’t have a favorite body butter, but there are just some products that I won’t use. Maybe it’s just me, but anything with too much of a fragrance can make me feel nauseous. And some “creams” don’t really help hydrate my skin.
In the past, I’ve loved using L’occitane’s Trader Joe’s last weekend, I spotted their Pumpkin Body Butter and promptly grabbed a jar.
I have a soft spot for Trader Joe’s beauty products – they’re cruelty free, made with good-for-you ingredients, and they won’t break the bank. (If you are interested in any of TJ’s beauty products, you’ll have to visit your local store – they aren’t available online.)
This Pumpkin Butter has been great! The butter itself is very moisturizing and doesn’t leave my hands feeling too greasy. I also can appreciate the flip-up lid! But the one thing that may start to get to me by the end of the jar, is the smell. It smells like sweet pumpkin pie – not too strongly, but enough that might drive me crazy.
In the meantime, I’m trying not to concentrate on the smell, but to focus on how soft my skin feels when I use the Pumpkin Body Butter.
Do you switch up your lotions for creams in the cooler months? What products have you found to be your favorites?
