Thanks to our sassy “On the Scene” contributor Sarah Lagen from The Kissing Booth for covering the Live out Loud Down the Runway Fashion Show. See more about Sarah below….
Last week was Chicago’s fashion week and I am excited to report that I attended my first Chicago fashion event thanks to Sassy Moms in the City! I was so excited when she asked me to do a feature about a fashion show featuring some local Chicago designers called Live out Loud Down the Runway. It was a fun event that allowed me to enjoy my love of fashion in a tribute to some of Chicago’s top designers.
Purposerosa is a jewelry line that was created by two sisters that make beautiful pieces of jewelry from repurposed materials. I was really impressed by the size of their jewelry and the way they incorporated bright colors into their line but kept their pieces easy to wear. The jewelry that these sisters create is truly statement pieces, pieces that you could wear with a simple outfit and as a great pop!
The next Chicago designer was Crystal B. Designs, her style is inspired by architecture and structure and you could see this in everything that she sent down the runway. I really enjoyed they looks from her Spring 2014 collection with all of the angles and cut outs while remaining perfect for a sophisticated and sleek woman. The collection showcased some bright spring colors paired perfectly with white, I liked the simple colors that allowed for the clothing to have those great structural shapes.
The last designer that was featured at the Modahnik, a recent designer featured on Project Runway. Her style and designs are influenced by African prints paired with details that are tailored to a woman’s natural curves. This collection was full of bright colors and prints that really pop’ed! There is something about her patters that I found addictive and kept wanting to see more, they all blended well together and it was very stunning on it’s own.
It is fair to say that when Spring 2014 comes around I will be looking at some Chicago designers to find my new go to pieces!
