Out of all my beauty products, mascara is the one that I can’t live without. You can tell from the before and after pictures here that my lashes are extremely blond. Needless to say, I rely on mascara to look “normal”.
I’m always on the look out for tips and tricks for perfecting my makeup application. But once I find a method or a product, I tend to stick with it. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, right?
How to create the perfect, clump-free lashes:
1. Apply all other makeup, besides lip color. Mascara should be one of the last makeup products applied.
2. Prepare for the mascara by curling the lashes. Rather than clamping the eyelash curler in one spot, the curler should go up and down from the bottom of the lashes to the top. This method will create more of a natural looking curl.
3. Tilt the head back and apply the first coat of mascara to the top lashes. Get as close to the lash line as possible and wiggle the brush as it’s brought to the tips.
4. Apply a second coat to the top lashes, and a first coat to the bottom.
5. Repeat step 4.
6. Use a Q-tip to clean up any mistakes.
It’s really a simple step-by-step process!
My eyelash curler is from clean my makeup brushes.
This mascara though is new to me. I grabbed it when I was at Ulta Oreal stays in place all day. I also love how thick and long it makes my lashes look!
Are there any mascara tips or products that you swear by? We’d love to hear what works for you!

I have yet to try this mascara, but I’ve heard such great things about it and it’s beautiful on you!
April Giannosa says
Thanks, Niki! I have about 3 other mascaras that I used to rotate between, but this one has been my daily favorite!

Mascara is my “need to have it” makeup too. I love trying out tons of different drugstore varieties! I’d seen this Butterfly mascara, but hadn’t tried it. It certainly makes your lashes look gorgeous!! I’m currently loving Maybelline’s The Rocket, although I DON’T love how difficult it is to remove!

Love your tutorials! What a fab product. I live for before and after shots.
April Giannosa says
Glad you enjoy them, Nicole! I agree. It’s always great to see before and after shots…it keeps things real! Sometimes it’s hard to share pictures when I’m not wearing makeup though!!
April Giannosa says
I knew I wasn’t alone in thinking so highly of mascara! Sorry to hear about how difficult that Maybelline one is to remove! This one removes really easily, and surprisingly, it lasts all day!
