Were you watching NBC’s “Fashion Star” last night? I was and will be for the next 9 episodes! What’s not to love? It’s like Project Runway meets American Idol and The Voice rolled into one fascinating hour of reality TV.
Forget the behind the scene drama between contestants, Fashion Star gets down to business focusing on the designer’s cutting-edge creations. The fourteen hopefuls compete to sell their clothes each week to a buyers’ judging panel composed of H&M, Macy’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Awesome!
A reality show is not complete without a panel of celebrities to guide and mentor such hopefuls. Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson and American Fashion designer John Varvatos, advise competitors through the challenges and offer feedback on the runway.
Fashion lovers can rejoice because this show rocks! The best part? At the end of each episode, the winning designs are available for purchase online and in stores. Twitter was on fire last night as viewers watched as six designers careers changed when their pieces were purchased by Macy’s, H & M and Saks Fifth Avenue.
If you missed last night’s episode, here’s a look at the buyer’s selections and what is available for purchase.
My favorite was Nikki Poulos’ red and white Kimono Maxi Caftan Dress. Was really hoping this would be the pattern Macy’s selected.
Second fav was Orly Shani’s Zipper Mini Skirt which is brilliant and innovative. How seriously cute is this? The top layer is removable and transforms into a simple mini skirt.
Macy’s buyer Caprice Willard purchased the most items of the night with a total of three purchases from the designers below. [Macys.com/fashionstar]
