Thank you Lindt Chocolate for sponsoring today’s post.
Celebrating Mother’s Day is a big deal in our family. By big deal I mean being blessed with a husband who gives me the day off. Traditionally I’ll sleep in, if I’m lucky the girls will bring me breakfast in bed, I’ll go shopping, to the movies or just lounge around.
My husband takes the girls out of the house so I can have a little peace and quiet. By evening we regroup as a family and acknowledge how great of a job I’m doing as Mom of the Year. Maybe even indulge with sweet treats. Isn’t that what we all want on Mother’s Day??
I’ve been chatting with my girlfriends about their impending Mother’s Day plans and was surprised to learn a handful have never been away from the kids on the one day of the year that celebrates our awesomeness. I guess there is no wrong or right way to celebrate, but it’s nice to have a few hours of no one asking me to do anything or repeating my name a million times like I’m deaf.
High five to any spouse, partner or family member who steps up and gives a mom in their life a well deserved break. The struggle is real!
Speaking of me time….The “Mother’s Day” movie premieres Friday, April 29th – the perfect opportunity to grab your mom, girlfriends or go solo. I was invited to an advanced screening of “Mother’s Day” packed with an all star cast including Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis depicting the intersecting stories of different mothers’ lives.
It’s a cute, light hearted comedy that moms at any stage of motherhood will find relatable. The storyline for each character is unique – one minute you’ll be laughing, the next a little teary but at the end you’ll definitely find more appreciation for celebrating the mother in your life.
If you’re wondering what to get mom – something as simple as elegant truffles is always a winner. Who doesn’t love #chocolate??
You can do something as easy and simple as a Mother’s Day breakfast in bed tray in under 5 minutes. All you need are pastries {purchased from the bakery or grocery store}, flower(s), fruit {pre-cut from grocery store}, card, something sweet, something bubbly and of course coffee.
For the bubbly try orange juice with champagne or club soda. Voilà! There you have the perfect Mothers’ Day breakfast in bed.
My something sweet was provided by Lindt who sent me several bags of the smooth, decadent LINDOR Milk Chocolate truffles which are calling my name, begging to be eaten.
What makes LINDOR Milk Chocolate truffles so unique is the creamy, molten center that melts in your mouth. The delicate outer chocolate shell breaks open in the first bite, releasing the most irresistible center of more chocolate. It’s seriously a party in your mouth!

YAY!!! Cheers to the families who give mom a break. Yes, celebrate how amazing we are by leaving us alone 🙂 And of course, a little family time is required, but no fighting, nagging, etc… Bubbly and chocolate, my faves!

Sounds like your Mother’s Day is a treat! I usually spend time with my kids, but make my husband do all of the “parenting” stuff. This movie sounds great! Looking forward to checking it out 🙂

Thank you Melissa – yes share this with your husband. It’s taken mine a few years but now the girls are older they have fun putting together my breakfast in bed. Keeping it simple really helps motivate him.
