Hey friends! I’m back with another style challenge from Target. This time we’re talking denim truth or dare. As I mentioned Skinny jeans are my jam, primarily because the style seems to flatter my curves, allowing me to pull off flowy tops and the occasional tunic.
It’s flattering for my body type to wear a bottom that is slim through the hip and thighs, especially when pairing with a top that has more movement. I’m much more confident wearing this combo.
I guess you could say skinny jeans are my Denim Truth. However, there comes a time when we need to explore past our comfort zone – become more daring – try something new and different.
As much as I love the look of boyfriend jeans, I’m not always confident I can pull this style off. The legs are loose fitting and can occasionally be baggy in the crotch. This is a problem for shorties like me.
So off to Target I went to challenge myself and hunt down the most flattering boyfriend jeans that would become my Denim Dare. It’s time to take more risks, be creative and hopefully score something in white denim.
It must have been my lucky day.
Not only did I find a pair of boyfriend DISTRESSED white crop jeans, a pair of boyfriend DISTRESSED white denim shorts were waiting patiently just for me! I’ve had my eye on these but wasn’t in the mood to spend more than $30. Finding at Target for the lovely price of $22 – what could be better?
I was so excited about the challenge I ended up with at least six pairs in a variety of styles in the dressing room. It’s obvious that Target’s new and improved denim is made to fit well, even the most difficult body types like myself. Did I mention I’m only 5’2? Imagine my struggle finding jeans that don’t need to be hemmed.
Target has improved the fit, fabric and designed jeans for every body type!
DENIM TRUTH
Here we are – my Denim Truth in another pair of low-rise skinny jeans, paired with this adorable white lace top – also from Target. I really love this look and the jeans are so incredibly comfortable –like I could sleep in comfy.
This outfit can easily go from day to night and the inseam on Target’s low rise skinny denim (slim fit) came in different lengths. It’s nice to have that option available, especially for jeans that cost $27.99 (plus $10 off)!
DENIM DARE
Now for the moment of truth – I mean dare…
This was a little more challenging than expected– but isn’t that the point? White distressed denim shorts exude the cool factor but the mid-rise waist is higher than any other style of Target jeans I’ve tried so far. The length was perfect, fabric soft with a bit of stretch and distressed appropriately for a mom of two.
I paired the shorts with a simple cotton t-shirt and metallic braided thong sandals. Again these being mid-rise I wanted to accentuate my waist by tucking in the shirt and adding a skinny belt. This worked well but I would also wear the shirt out too.
Depending on your height you may want to size down on Target’s white denim shorts and white denim boyfriend jeans. I found both to run a little bigger than the previous styles.
I chose to style the Mossimo top is perfect for summer and even looks great with the shorts. Next time heels will be in the rotation for sure!
I loved the thickness of Target’s white denim. No see-through issues here!
Another summer score are these adorable and comfortable braided thong sandals in pewter {on clearance} and this bright colorful tote that happened to coordinate with my current nail polish. Both will be getting frequent playtime the remainder of the season.
