Last month I was on a media trip at the Sandestin Hilton and met the most amazing bloggers who were full of information. I’ve never considered myself a tech or camera expert, however both are a passion. Always reading blogs, asking questions and trying to improve my skills, the ladies I met shared some amazing photography tips, one being a wireless SD card for digital cameras.
One of the reasons I rarely use my Canon at events or whenever I need to document photos for SMITC is because of the delay in publishing. Isn’t that why most people use their camera phone?
By the time I’ve returned home, plugged the camera into my Macbook, transferred into iPhoto, reviewed what’s good or bad, the moment has passed or I’ve already published similar but grainy versions from my iPhone.
Ever wonder how people get those awesome hi-res images on Facebook and Instagram? I’m pretty sure they are using an Eye-Fi Wireless Memory Card or their camera has built-in wireless capability.
The day I learned about Eyefi Mobi SD Card was exciting, the day I purchased was life changing. How did I NOT know about this??
Available in 8, 16 and 32 GB, I opted for the 8 GB. For less than $50 I can now take hi-res images and immediately access from my iPhone photo gallery. Within minutes these can be edited and pushed to social media.
With 4 easy steps you’ll be up and running!
1. Download the Eyefi App to your IOS or Android Device and enter activation code.
2. Insert Card in Camera and take a few photos.
3. Connect phone to Wi-fi (You will see the EyeFi option appear – choose this). Leave your camera on. I had to change the auto off settings on mine so it would not time out too quickly.
4. Watch photos appear in gallery on your phone! You can access from the Eyefi app gallery and share from here or access straight from your phone’s photo gallery. This is where I prefer to access so I can edit using my favorite Instagram apps. Their app only allows sharing to Facebook and Twitter so obviously more options doing it from your phone’s gallery.
Eye-fi has totally changed the way I take photos. My Canon has gotten more use in the past few weeks than potentially the time I’ve owned it.
No matter how you are using a digital camera (even if you choose not to publish to social media) having access from your phone is convenient. Why waste time syncing any other way but wirelessly?
Eyefi Mobi SDHC card with built-in WiFi is compatible with nearly any digital camera but you can check their website to be sure before buying.
