Sassy Moms in the City kicked off the holiday shopping season with celebrity stylist, interactive photo booth, seasonal desserts and adventure inspired styling sessions.
Watching everyone’s reaction to Timberland’s earth-conscious and stylish boot collections, accessories and winter gear was the highlight of the evening. It was the same reaction I had upon entering the store too. It has been years (more like decades) since I’ve worn the iconic brand and I, along with our guests, was astounded at the options now available for both men and women.
Showcasing Timberland’s stylish attire, I dressed up simple black leggings and long sleeve tee with a chic wool poncho and riding boots. By the way, these are THE MOST comfortable boots I’ve put on my feet EVER. Timberland was kind enough to provide me with a pair of Bethel Bucket Tall Zip boots.
I was taken aback when I opened the box. Mostly I was super excited at the sleek design of leather and suede but then the cushy insole won me over. Since receiving, I’ve walked many city blocks and of course wore (standing on my feet) the entire night of the event. My feet have never been so happy. Eric and I discovered we have something in common – we are both boot hoarders collectors so we just had to snap this pic in front of an entire wall of Timberland boots!
Me:
Timberland Bethel Bucket Tall Zip Boots – $210
Timberland Textured Knot Poncho –$80
Eric:
Timberland Half-Button Super Fine Merino Wool Sweater – $118
While guests shopped, Polite in Public hosted an interactive photo booth complete with Timberland attire and outdoor props to play dress up. Everyone went home with printed and digital copies as a keepsake souvenir.

Not only is Timberland stylish, they are committed to protecting our planet. The new location on Michigan Avenue is designed to reflect the company’s commitment to sustainability, by using recycled materials and other environmentally-responsible building practices. It was fascinating to learn that the store’s features include reclaimed wood and industrial machinery. The most beautiful floor to ceiling patchwork curtain made of leather scraps divides the women’s and men’s sections. What a creative and innovative way to repurpose unused material.

My fellow (and favorite) fashion blogger, Betsy from The Little Style File stopped by with her shopping partner, becoming fast friends with Eric (who wouldn’t??) as he hooked them up with killer boots, scarves and a sweater dress. Betsy you rocked the sweater dress so I hope you bought it!
Chicago fashion blogger, Jemappelle Shen stopped by looking beautiful. Love her recap of the event and pics.
Guests saved 20% on purchases and everyone went home with a goodie bag filled with a Timberland scarf, gift card, and a City in a Garden” Tree seed kit, keeping with Timberland’s initiative to plant five million trees before 2015. Thanks to Timberland for introducing us to what fashionistas have been missing – a hip selection of footwear, apparel and accessories for every adventure!
The party continued at Billy Dec. He wears Timberland well.
