Ever since our basement renovation this summer we’ve debated contemplated on the future of residency – city or burbs. I’m sure you can imagine my stance on this topic. It’s not a consideration for me to leave the city any time in the near future. Rather than move we’re updating our current abode.
Recently I shared our updated master bathroom, next up the kitchen.
This project’s a little more involved and costly as we’re replacing appliances, granite and faucet.
We have Moen faucets throughout out home and after ten years it was time to update the kitchen. With the amount of time I spend in the kitchen I’ve had my eye on a hands free version. After researching the different brands, we decided to go with the Moen Arbor MotionSense in Spot Resist Stainless.
Initially we planned to hire a plumber to install but after watching the Moen installation video, it was obvious this was a simple DIY project. When the box arrived I was surprised at the size (medium) and the quantity of parts (very few). This has to be easy.
As you can see the BEFORE was a standard faucet. Nothing fancy but the style was outdated and it was on its last leg. Removing was the most difficult part in the entire process. Nothing a hacksaw couldn’t handle.
You’ll need to find a spot underneath your sink for the equipment and to clear everything out prior to installation. The small control box mounts to the back wall, taking up very little space. I assume most kitchens have an electrical outlet in this area for the dishwasher. The faucet kit includes a battery pack AND the 6 AA batteries, however I highly recommend purchasing the AC – Adapter.
The AC- Adapter is an additional charge but worth it. I’m not sure how long AA batteries would last on something of this capacity.
Sassy Installation Tip: Watch Moen’s installation video. It was how I convinced hubs we could do this. It demonstrates a female installing which is brilliant.

Hi Alison,
Thank you for your video clip of motion sensor tap water. I like to know where can I purchase AC adapter and how to install it.
Have a wonderful weekend,

You can purchase the AC adapter from Moen. The installation only requires an electric outlet which should be under your sink for the garbage disposal. It plugs right into the sensor that comes with the faucet. Hope this helps!
