Last week I was invited to a media breakfast for purtergent (stay tuned for this recap) at Beatrix and decided to wear something that’s out of the box for me – a graphic tee, striped jacket and metallic pumps. Whoa, hold the phones people I got a little crazy.
It’s not the norm for me to post what I’m wearing on Sassy Moms in the City, however I was having a good hair day and digging my outfit. It’s so weird for me to “pose” (especially in my living room), but I’ve been playing around my my 50mm f/1.8 lens. Not too bad if I do say so myself.
I’ve confessed this before, as much as I love fashion styling is not my strength. If I see it on someone else and think I can pull it off, I’ll go for it. It’s safe to say I’m not alone which is why fashion bloggers are so popular.
One of my favorite fashion bloggers is SimplyLuluStyle.com. She’s got amazing style that’s attainable for anyone. I’m also drawn to her because she’s around my height (we’re both vertically challenged) so when I see what she’s wearing, I know it’s somewhat attainable.
After seeing Lulu pair a J Crew graphic tee with a tweed jacket – I decided to give it a try with a similar jacket that’s been sitting in my closet for two years. I’ve probably worn this a total of three times. The obvious thing to do is wear a white tee but that’s too boring. A graphic tee was the perfect solution and not something I would have thought to do on my own.
This is my version wearing a graphic tee I picked up at the LOFT outlet; the navy/white striped jacket is from Anthropologie (old). The tee looks much lighter in the photo but it worked. The necklace is c/o Kohl’s Simply Vera Vera Wang (on sale for $13.60).
I probably could have worn skinny jeans but I’m loving these boyfriend jeans from LOFT. By the way these are 50% OFF – use code RUSH50.
Now about those metallic shoes. Once again Lulu inspired me wearing J Crew silver metallic shoes. If I had seen these in the store before reading her post, I would have walked on by. But the way she pulled it off – I had to have these!
Somehow (this rarely happens) I was shopping the day Banana Republic was having a 40% off sale and scored the Giah Pump at the most ridiculous price – practically free. As of yesterday these still available at 40% OFF – use code BRTAKE40.
These pumps are beyond comfortable and the heel is only 2 1/2 inches. I can’t remember the last time I wore a heel this low other than ballet flat or gladiator sandals.
Years ago I purchased many pairs of Banana Republic shoes, but then I fell in love with Cole Haan’s Nike Air technology and was converted. Surprisingly the Giah Pump has an exclusive padding system with memory foam and a cushioned insole.
I could live in these shoes!
So how did I do with the outfit? Would you wear metallic shoes?

OMG! love, love, love. I’d never have thought to do the graphic tee with a blazer either, but it totally works. and those metallic pumps!!
