When I started this blog in 2009, one of the first things I wrote about was our experience with the Orbit Stroller and to be honest, it was one of the reasons I decided to blog at all. As the proud owners of a sassy stroller system, I lost count of how many times we were stopped by inquiring parents wanting to know about our Orbit experience. I guess repeating our story so many times inspired me to share it online, among many other things.
Fast forward 4 years and two kids later, we eventually outgrew the original Orbit Stroller. Thankfully in 2010, Orbit completely redesigned their system which resulted in the launch of the G2. If you read my original post (that Orbit actually read) I was very honest about the things that I wish were different.
It seems Orbit was listening to their customers because pretty much everything I would have changed about the original, the G2 offers. Now we are stopped daily by almost everyone wanting to know more about the Sidekick. Let’s say I no longer have stroller envy!
Sassy Moms Like:
- Sidekick Stroller Board – This is the number one reason we were so excited about the G2. Orbit was genius to place the board on the side which gives parents unobstructed walking while strolling. It is the first and only ride along stroller board with the look and feel of a skateboard. It is completely out of the way while pushing AND Orbit was able to keep the true one handed fold with the Sidekick attached. For families with multiple children, the Sidekick can accommodate a toddler, while a younger child rides in the stroller. To accommodate 3 kids, attach two Sidekicks to one stroller for unprecedented family flexibility. Yippee!!
- Redesigned Stroller Seat – Orbit got it right this time around. Extra cushioning to keep your little once nice and cozy and the seat reclines completely horizontal, which is a feature I really wanted on the original. Thank you!!
- Hassle-free No-Pump Tires – We had a really difficult time regulating the air pressure in the original. We could not be happier about the no pump tires. Very smart decision.
- One-Handed Stroller Fold – Need I say more? This is one of the most important features for me getting in and out of taxis quickly.
- 3DRotation™: ergonomically rotate-and-recline in one fluid motion – Until you have this feature it is difficult to understand how great it is. For our family it comes in very handy when dining out. We park the stroller next to our table and rotate the seat so the child can actually stay in the stroller while eating. Very convenient in small restaurants and coffee shops.
- UV sunshade with Paparazzi Shield™ – Many strollers do not provide a sunshade that fully covers your child to protect from the sun and wind. This never crossed my mind with our first born but I was so grateful to have it.
- Greenest Stroller – The G2 is the greenest stroller available on the market with a complete roll-out of green Oeko-Tex certified fabrics. Click here for more information about how Orbit Baby is leading the industry with the “greenest” fabrics on the market.
- Smoothest riding and most comfortable stroller for children – innovative new QuadShockTM suspension featuring four shock absorbers per wheel for the world’s smoothest stroller ride.
Sassy Moms Don’t Like:
- Cost – It is an expensive investment, especially if you already own the original Orbit Baby. The company originally ran a promotion for one month that allowed current owners to upgrade at a discounted rate. Would be nice if Orbit would continue run that promo for current owners who recycled or donated their old Orbit strollers.
Retail price: $750

Disclosure: Sassy Moms in the City was not paid for this post and has been the owner of Orbit Baby products for almost 4 years. We did receive the G2 stroller to test drive and the opinions are our own.
