Yesterday while relaxing poolside on vacation, my friend stopped by for a quick visit and as many of my conversations go, led to discussing must-have beauty products. My friend lives in Florida and has the good fortune of being on the beach or on a boat almost year round. The only challenge is so much sun exposure can leave skin susceptible to fine lines and sun spots. Of course I had to share my favorite product for sun protection and diminishing wrinkles.
Last summer I was obsessed feeling self conscious about the condition of my skin (fine lines and sun spots specifically) and expressed concern to my esthetician. She suggested SkinCeuticals Retinol cream as it provided the highest form of retinol without a prescription. Having used Retin-A for many years, I was curious (and skeptical) how well Retinol would work.
There are two versions – Retinol .5% and Retinol 1%. It’s important to know that SkinCeuticals Retinol contains pure retinol and the 1% version is the highest concentration currently available without a prescription from your dermatologist. The purpose of using a retinol cream is to help stimulate cell regeneration and build collagen to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots from both photo- and intrinsic- aging. Additionally, it can help minimize the appearance of pore size, while correcting blemishes and blotchiness often associated with problematic skin.
I’ve had success and seen great results using SkinCeuticals Retinol but before you run out and purchase, I highly recommend having your skin evaluated by a dermatologist and/or esthetician. If you choose NOT to do this, start with Retinol 0.5 and follow my tips below.
Sassy Tips:
- Follow the instructions! Dryness and flaking skin is normal. If you are currently using retinol creams from the local drug store, the results will be much different as SkinCeuticals Retinol is much more potent.
- Don’t use while pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Stop using at least 5 days before waxing.
- Use sunscreen before stepping out the door! My favorite is Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50
- Use a gentle exfoliator device twice a week to smooth and soften your skin .
SkinCeuticals Retinol is a great product and worth every penny.
Are you using or ever tried a retinol cream?
