April is sharing a review of True Blue Spa Bronzing Self-Tanning Lotion.
It seems like once the weather finally warms up, everyone is in a hustle to get that beach-ready body. I’m not talking about slimming down and trimming up – though I have noticed more people at the gym recently! I’m talking about adding some color to get that sun-kissed skin!
Being a color-deprived person, I’ve learned that I can do one of two things when it comes to exposing my pale parts in the summer. I can either own it – which I do most of the time. Or, I can learn how to add color to my skin in a safe, relatively inexpensive way.
As much as I can appreciate a great personal spray tan – not the machine kind, that will leave you botched up – the cost of those weekly sessions add up quickly! So my method of choice is from the bottle.
I’m a big fan of reading reviews before I spend money on a product. I heard great things about the True Blue Spa Bronzing Self-Tanning Lotion from Bath and Body Works, so I decided to give it a try.
If you’ve never used self-tanner before, it is pretty easy to apply. You have to start off by exfoliating whatever area you want to add color too. And if you’re going to be tanning your legs, make sure to shave! Once you’re all scrubbed up, add some moisturizer with extra focus to parts that tend to be dry – like knees and elbows.
When you are ready to apply the tanning lotion, put a nice big glob on your hand, rub it together, then rub it onto your body in circular motions. When I do my legs, I save the knees, ankles, and feet for last, and then I just barely rub my hands over them with whatever lotion is left.
The main things that I like about the True Blue Spa tanning lotion is that it’s a bronzer, so you can see where you’ve applied it. Plus, the final coloring is pretty accurate to that of a real tan. (Take a peek at this picture to see what the lotion looks like on my legs.)
One thing that I didn’t like about this lotion – and it’s actually something that I’ve always disliked about self-tanning lotions – is the smell that comes with. This lotion has a pleasant aroma when it’s applied, but it definitely has that bottled sunshine odor after a few hours.
Overall, this is a great lotion! I’ve used other self tanners before, but color and easy-of-use of this one is very good. (The odor aftermath is just a small price for “sun-kissed” skin!)
