I love my crock pot and have owned one since college. I’m pretty sure owning a crock pot is a right of passage for every southern girl. Over the years I used it sporadically to make chili and that was about it. Somewhere along the way I passed the hand-me-down appliance to another family member or maybe I donated it, who can remember!
Last winter in an effort to simplify my life and cook dinner rather than ordering out, I purchased a shiny black Crock-Pot hoping to wow my family with amazing one pot meals. Unfortunately, the newness wore off in less than a month and my poor crock pot quickly began collecting dust.
A few weeks ago this all changed when I stumbled across the Skinny Crock Pot on Facebook. At first glance I thought, this is really convenient and an easy way to obtain new recipes. Now I am truly obsessed!
Both are great communities and allow you to share, ask questions and obtain new recipes daily. I’ve made everything from homemade applesauce to Balsamic Chicken. Not only am I obsessed, but I am INSPIRED.

Skinny Crock Pot offers a community for sharing recipes that will get you slim and trim and where I have found the bulk of my recipes. If you have any experience with one pot meals or slow cooker recipes than you are highly aware that most are high in fat content. Skinny Crock Pot is your solution!
The Facebook page went viral resulting in 1 million fans since launching on August 19, 2011. Never under estimate the power of the crock pot! The madness led to launching an official website and a weekly video segment called Crock Pot Mondays. After the recipe is chosen they post the “shopping list and recipe” on Saturday, so you can get your grocery shopping done and join in on the fun!
